Nomads saw in the gazelle an innate ability to seemingly effortlessly navigate a rugged terrain. In this was, it symbolizes the virtues of strength and dexterity in overcoming the many harsh environments that life presents. It possessed for them the virtues of grace and dignity, which could be manifested in all situations and in all aspects of life.
An extremely rare and hard to find rug. Handmade by the Balouch nomads living between the borders of Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan, these tribes can also be found on a smaller scale in Bahrain and the Punjab province of India. About 70% live in Pakistan and are divided into two groups; the Sulaimani and the Makrani.
This carpet was bought in the city Herart, Afghanistan. It is a stunning example of a Herat-Baluch carpet. Exceptional quality and beautiful design.
