SHASHAVAN RUNNER - 274cm x 100cm (8'10 x 3'3)

This colourful and elegant Caucasian village rug from the Shahsavan region of Azerbaijan, features a very playful array of traditional, tribal design motifs in rich, saturated natural colors on a deeply intense navy blue field all surrounded by a main border of highly stylized dragon forms flanked by floral trellis minor borders on ivory. A not so subtle hint of the weaver's location are the two massive birds (possibly peacocks), at either end.
