Nothing adds to a interior space like a rug. The choice is vast when it comes to colour, texture, or style but these are some ideas on what you can do with them.
1. Use a rug to define a space. This is especially useful in open plan spaces. Either under a group of chairs to create a cosy seating area or under a dining table to separate it from the rest of the room. As a rule the rug should be big enough to allow the furniture to sit on it, not around it.
2. Use a rug to warm up a scheme. A wooden or tiled floor can sometimes look cold or bare but a rug will add texture and colour and it has a practical purpose too. It’s much softer and warmer to walk on and effectively muffles noise.
3. Use a rug to introduce colour and pattern into a room. This works in either traditional or contemporary arrangements. There’s nothing nicer than seeing a beautiful rug in an otherwise neutral room.
4. Buy the best you can afford. A rug is a pretty big investment for most of us but you do want it to last for years so it makes sense to buy quality. It doesn't have to break the bank – we have lots of good quality rugs at reasonable prices.
